Activity Counselor / Specialist · Summer 2027

Description

Camp Birchwood, a lakeside girls' camp in northern Minnesota, is now taking applications for Summer 2027 activity instructors across sailing, riding, climbing, and other specialty areas. Teachers who already run clubs or electives in subjects like art, music, or outdoor skills can step directly into one of Birchwood's specialty instructor roles.

Camp Birchwood is a traditional camp in LaPorte, Minnesota that hires 45-55 staff each summer to run cabin life and lead activity areas such as sailing, waterfront, wilderness tripping, horseback riding, arts and crafts, and tennis. The camp prioritizes finding staff with a genuine teaching ability in a specific activity, though it also trains enthusiastic beginners who show the right attitude and energy. Staff live in cabins with campers and help create a supportive, skills-based summer environment. This structure appeals to teachers who already lead a specific subject or extracurricular and want to apply that expertise outside a traditional classroom. Hiring begins as early as November, so candidates should reach out directly to Camp Birchwood to confirm current 2027 openings, pay, and dates.
